In the early spring, this wonderful town hosts their annual mandelblüten fest. This event is very, very popular and just on Sunday alone, thousands of people came from far and wide to enjoy the blooms and, of course, the wine!
Gimmeldingen is not a big town, not by any means. The popularity of this event is disproportionate to its size in a big way! We have been to plenty of these events over the years and this one takes the proverbial cake. Wine, unique and local foods and plenty of random items were available.
Parking got a little crazy so be sure to get there before noon. There are maps available on the official website.
Despite the crowds, there were many places to sit and enjoy the weather and company.
Spring is finally here! There were so many beautiful flowers in well-tended landscapes. These guys were right next to visitors sitting on benches, enjoying their schorle poured into “dubbelgläser”, a unique half-liter glass special to the area.
Local hunters sold venison in all varieties. They would even burn your name into wood!
