Die Geschichte

This train bridge is located on a disused rail line between the cities of Enkenbach-Alsenborn to the west and Ramsen to the east. It is 271 meters long and 35 meters high. The bridge stretches over the Eistal (valley) with the L 395 country road running underneath it’s girders. The ends of the bridge are accessible via trails but the bridge itself is off limits to hikers for safety reasons. It is an impressive sight when one drives east on the L 395 from Enkenbach and the massive structure emerges into view through the trees. The Eiswoog lake is a hiking and biking destination in the Palatinate Forest and a small concern offers food and drinks for weary travelers.

Tipps für Ihren Besuch

The best way to access the ends of the bridge, remember: the bridge itself is off-limits, is to park right below the bridge off the L-395 road and walk the trails. There is an information board that will tell you where to go in the parking lot.
