Villa Rustica

The Story

The remains of an ancient Roman manor house and related buildings was discovered by chance in 1980. Since then, it has been cared for by the state of Rheinland-Pfalz and the city of Wachenheim.

Almost functioning as a rest stop on the Federal Highway B-271, you can halt here and tour the grounds once toiled by people of the Roman Empire.

There are placards located throughout this open-air museum but they are mostly in German.

The official website has some good information in English, however, so check it out here.

Tips for your visit

There is a parking lot right off the B-271 so access by car is simple.
