Mandel Meile Edenkoben

In the early spring, this wonderful town hosts an event that helps you appreciate nature’s beauty…and great food and wine as well!

We tried the Grauburgender and loved it!

The town of Edenkoben (Eden’s Basket) is a beautiful town located on the southern Weinstrasse near Neustadt an der Weinstrasse.  This town has many events, but the one that gets the most visitors is the “Mandel Meile”, held when the almond trees are in bloom in the early spring.  For three weekends in March, this places see thousands of people come from far and wide.  If you missed it this year, keep your ear to the ground for next year’s event.  If you’re like us, you will visit Edenkoben multiple times throughout the year for their myriad events.

Local wineries sold their newest vintages by the glass or even by the bottle.  They also had plenty of food trucks offering sweet things, meats on sticks, pasta and pizza.  Just grab a snack and find a table and enjoy the atmosphere.

The blooms were the biggest attraction this weekend in Edenkoben.  Hundreds of people strolled the boulevard, taking pictures, sipping wine and chatting with strangers.  

This stand offered one of the most coveted of treats:  the infamous “Dampfnudel”.  Smothered in vanilla sauce, these treats had people queing up in droves.
