Lady Germania stands sentinel over the Rhein River valley to commemorate the victory of a new nation in the Franco-Prussian War of 1870-71

This unique structure was built in 1880 in honor of Field Marshal Count Helmuth von Moltke and Chancellor Otto von Bismarck for orchestrating the defeat of the French in 1871.
