The Story
What better way to enjoy a day in Germany by going to a playground that will keep you little ones engaged while you (maybe) enjoy a Dubbeglas of local wine! The city of Edenkoben, literally translated as “Eden’s Basket”, is a wonderful day trip. The playground is sponsored by the Dietman Hopp Foundation (the founder of German software giant SAP) and boasts in-ground trampolines, climbing structures and a creek even runs through it! Bring snacks with you or visit one of the many nearby restaurants.
This playground is one of many in the region sponsored by Dietmar Hopp and there is one in Deidesheim on the north end of the Weinstrasse. Be on the lookout for when Edenkoben has one of its many fests because that’s the best time to go! Check out the city’s official website for more information on that.
Tips for your visit
There is usually plenty of parking, but during peak seasons you may have to get creative and park along the asphalt paths that line the grapevines. Your little ones will most likely get wet in the creek or in the foot pool, so bring a towel and a change of clothes.
