This Medieval town is surrounded by a wall that used to keep out marauding bandits, now it protects cute boutiques, bed and breakfasts and has some of the best wine in the region.

This picturesque little town has a lot to see in such a small package! Cobblestone streets, medieval wall, half-timber houses and wineries galore! The town has many events including an awesome Christmas market and a great city festival with live bands and plenty to eat and drink. Not into that? No problem! Wander the narrow alleys between the ancient houses, stop for some ice cream and check out the storks when they come to roost in the early Spring.
Parking can be very limited so you may have to wander a bit to find something. Don’t forget to get a ticket at the automated kiosk. See the Komoot map below to guide you through the town.

We love Freinsheim! The food, the wine, the old wall are so wonderful!
