The Story

These simple markers, made of brass, are placed “in front of the homes where the victims of National Socialism last lived voluntarily.”  This is to remind us of the victims of the Holocaust and you will find them in many places.  The Stumbling Stones pictured above are found in the Altstadt in Kaiserslautern.

Since the first Stolperstein was installed in front of the town hall in Cologne in 1992, more than 100,000 stones have been placed in over 1900 cities and towns all over Europe.
