The Story
If you work at LRMC, you may have driven past these giants. This group of seven Sequoia trees were planted here sometime in the the late 19th century, imported from California. According to the information sign, the tallest one is 45 meters high (almost 150 feet!).
There is a barrier around the grove and a sign asks visitors to keep away from the bases of the trees.
Come and stand under these ancient fellows and wonder how they can grow so big and old.
Tips for your visit
There is a trailhead with parking a few hundred feet to the west of the grove. And don’t let the sounds of gunfire frighten you as the U.S. Army has a shooting range nearby!
